Overview
This “device” allows you to stream your audio to the server and loop it back through a simple set of audio cables. This will include the D/A and A/D conversion necessary for the audio to go through those cables. This can be used to simply test your audio streaming, analyze the conversion, or possibly add conversion harmonics and artifacts by driving the A/D converter slightly hot.
This device is not necessary when using other equipment. All equipment will have dedicated A/D conversion and ports that are included by default.

What is an audio loopback?
An audio loopback routes a device’s output straight back into its own input, so a signal makes a complete round trip through the hardware. On the Galaxy 64 Loopback, your digital audio is converted to analog (D/A), sent down a pair of cables, then converted back to digital (A/D) and returned to your DAW. Engineers use loopbacks to verify signal flow, measure conversion, and (when pushed) to capture the converter’s own sonic fingerprint.
Can the Galaxy 64 Loopback add harmonics or color to my sound?
Yes. Driving the A/D converter slightly hot can introduce subtle conversion harmonics and artifacts for a touch of analog character. No. You don’t need the Loopback when you’re using any other Access Analog device. Every piece of processing gear in the rack already includes its own dedicated A/D and D/A conversion and ports, so conversion is handled automatically. The Loopback exists only for testing your stream or using the conversion itself as an effect.
How does the Loopback process my audio through Access Analog?
The Loopback processes the audio you stream from your DAW, looping it through the Galaxy 64’s conversion and back through the Analog Matrix plugin in real time. It works on your line-level DAW audio (it isn’t for tracking a live mic) and Access Analog’s A/D converters run at a fixed 96 kHz, so matching your DAW and stream to 96 kHz keeps the signal cleanest. Like the rest of the rack, you control it straight from the plugin.
