Manley Variable Mu (v4)

Description

Manley’s best selling modern day masterpiece gives you control of your sound like nothing else. Known for it’s sweet sounding color courtesy of all tube circuitry and custom Manley input/output transformers, glue your tracks together with this compressor/limiter. The Variable Mu can kiss your audio with a touch of light 1.5:1 compression or smash unruly transients using the 20:1 limiting. You’ve heard the Manley Variable Mu on thousands of songs, now hear it on yours!

Our unit is specifically the version 4 model with the added T-bar modification.

1. Set the Vari Mu “Sep/Link” control to Link (this only links the amount of compression)
2. Set the robotic link L/R at the top left of the equipment panel to “Absolute”
3. Adjust the left-side settings to get “close” to what you want (even though it is probably still a little imbalanced)
4. Uncheck the robotic link L/R
5. Adjust the left or right side independently to balance the audio with your ears
