Thick and slightly charred with softened transients that hug the speakers.
ACOUSTIC GTR - THE TAPE GLOW PT 2 (HOT):
Warm, Cinematic wide and slightly blown out. Run it hot and play with intensity if needed to cozy inside your mix. As an alternative use, adjust compressor timing to 5 or 1 and push the threshold for some creative mangling on your drum bus. Reminiscent of a classic tape recorded/abused album.
ACOUSTIC GTR BUS - SILKY STUDER SAT:
Gentle compression and a solid but softened tone like a classic Tape Deck.
808 PARALLEL - TAPE CRUNCH (HOT):
A classic trick to get professional, saturated and crunchy 808’s. Bring in as a parallel underneath your 808s for mix poke, massive drums and wide stereo distortion for excellent translation on small speakers. Sometimes a little low end boost on the blend post processing works wonders, Pultecs are king here but Pro Q is also a top choice for a cleaner boost.
DRUM BUS - VINTAGE POWER PUSH:
Heavy saturation for heavy drums, very slightly blown out like classic taped drums. Super cool width and power, my new secret weapon on drums that are missing the magic touch. Great vibe/tone for Rock and Hip Hop, adjust Make Up Gain and Intensity to taste.
DRUM BUS - KILLER DRUMS MAN:
Super tight and punchy drums with nice girth, just needs light tweaking of the make up gain to work on anything you throw at it. Another classic nicerizer.
DRUM BUS - PUNCHY PARALLEL:
Nice crack and boom from pushing the transformers. Helps push the drums in the mix and give them dimension. Switch in the limiter with ratio knob fully jacked for some creative analogue voodoo. Used in parallel for best effect.
VOCAL - OPEN TOASTER NICERIZER:
Pushes the vocal through the mix while opening the midrange and tightening the low mids/bottom end. A nice driven but natural sound that shapes the outline of a vocal recording. Shelf/cut out a decent bit of treble after for some early Bon Iver sounds. A classic Nicerizer.
BACKING VOX - RICH TAPE PUSH:
Does what it says on the tin, push backing vox through the mix with attitude. Roll off some highs post processing for a classic beach boys tape tone.
VOX BUS - TRANSFORMER SUGAR:
Sweet saturation to push the vocal forward and highlight its edges. Works wonders on injecting tone into any dull or overly digital sounding track - hit the VU a little more gently and adjust the intensity if you want a little less enhancement. Another classic enhancement patch.
BASS CAB MIC - SITTIN WITH ATTITUDE
Help your Bass Cab mic push through the mix and add vintage vibe to your bass sound. Every note will be clearer and tighter. Try rolling out the low end before with a shelf or cut if you want to drive it hot, letting your Bass DI recording handle the low end. Tight punchy compression and lovely hair from the transformers to open up that bass tone.
BASS - FAIRCHILD GROOVE:
Using the compressor like a Fairchild (timings are modelled on) we get a super tight and controlled dynamic with vintage tube like texture and heat. Very Beatles - bring a little low end back with an eq if needed.
ELECTRIC GAT BUS
Controls dynamics and livens up the guitar bus, more bite more width lots of Rock N Roll. Crunchy like an Electric Wizard Guitar Bus should be. Darken afterwards if the presence clashes with the vocal.
GAT BUS PARALLEL - CAPTAIN CRUNCH (HOT)
Very nice crunchy distortion from pushing the transformers, bringing a huge amount of life to dry boring guitars. Best used in parallel or as a standard insert on your gat bus if you can handle it.
